Bay Area Restaurant Closings
The SF Bay Area restaurants that have closed during the pandemic.
Written by

Even though new places continue to open, this is an incredibly challenging time for restaurants. The shutdown, reopening with new guidelines, and concerns for health and safety have forced many to close their doors permanently.

Below is a roundup of those places, though it is not a comprehensive list. By some estimates, over 300 restaurants in the Bay Area have closed. These are just the ones we know about right now. It’s also worth noting that not all of these places are closed for good. Some have stated their plans to return in a new space, or in a different form. We’ve indicated in parenthesis if that’s the case.

If you’re looking for ways to show support, keep ordering takeout, tip well, and also let your local representative know that helping independent restaurants and workers survive this crisis is important to you. The Independent Restaurants Coalition has made it easy to ask your rep to support the Heroes Act (which now includes the Restaurants Act) with this automatic email builder.
