A panuozzo is sort of like a giant sandwich made with pizza dough, and San Matteo is one of the few places in NYC where you can get one. This place also does about 25 different kinds of pizza (and we tend prefer those), and they also have pasta, calzones, and small plates - which makes this a pretty solid neighborhood Italian option. The space is large, with brick walls and plenty of windows, and it’s perfect for a casual dinner with some friends or a few children that you’re responsible for feeding. Start with some antipasti, move on to the pizza, and order a bottle of wine if you don’t have anywhere to be in the morning.

Irving Farm Coffee Roasters
Irving Farm is a small chain of coffee shops, and this is their location on the Upper East Side. There’s coffee, beer, wine, and food. It’s nice.
Earl’s Beer & Cheese
Earl’s menu of pig and cheese heavy snacks pairs perfectly with the small but righteous selection of draft beers that they have on tap. Head up north sometime to check it out, and also visit Earl’s sister restaurant around the corner, ABV.

Faun is an excellent neighborhood spot in Prospect Heights serving seasonal, Italian-inspired food. Eat pasta on their patio whenever possible.
Caffè Storico is little more than a good bet for dinner in the neighborhood or some pre-gaming before you hit the planetarium. Who wants to get drunk and see a laser show?
Eataly: La Pizza & Pasta
The food at Eataly: La Pizza & Pasta is perfectly decent, even pretty damn good at times. But it's always just so damn crowded.
