The Shakespeare and The Ginger Man are both solid bars a block away from Cafe China. Now that you know that, hopefully you’ll continue reading after we tell you that you’re going to have to kill about an hour in Midtown East before dinner. You’ll almost certainly have to wait for a table here - they only take reservations for groups of seven or more at dinner, and four or more at lunch - but it’s worth it, because you’ll eat some of the best Sichuan food in Manhattan. The menu is long and the portions are large, so we recommend bringing a group and trying as many things as possible. Definitely get the spicy diced rabbit and the mapo tofu.
