Like The Fulton, Bar Wayo is located on Pier 17, just a few steps from where ticket lines form for the concert venue upstairs, and it’s also from a famous restaurant group (Momofuku). But where The Fulton is a special occasion spot to celebrate receiving a promotion or a copy of your significant other’s apartment key, Bar Wayo is a casual cocktail bar that serves drinks in mugs shaped like fish. They also serve shareable bar food, like peppery fried squid with yuzu mayo and a wagyu cheeseburger that you dip in jus like a French dip sandwich. We generally like the food, especially the burger and the beef tartare, but this is really more of a bar, so you don’t need to come here for a full dinner. Instead, have some drinks at the wraparound marble bar after work or before a show, or with a group at a picnic table out front.
