When news broke in late September that the long-simmering conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan had reignited in Nagorno-Karabakh, or the Republic of Artsakh, killing a reported 550 civilians to date (and leaving thousands more displaced and imperiled), LA restaurants did what they do best - they sprung into action.

If we’ve learned anything from our city’s restaurants over the past six months, it’s to never underestimate their ability to organize. Establishments within LA’s large Armenian community - and allies across the city - have been raising awareness about the conflict and donating to humanitarian organizations like the Armenia Fund, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the South Caucasus through projects focused on education, healthcare, infrastructure, rural development, and housing.

Here are some of the local restaurants donating to the Artsakh cause. If you’re looking for other ways to lend support, UCLA’s Armenian Students’ Association has put together a spreadsheet of participating businesses around Los Angeles.
