The City version of Yauatcha isn’t too far removed from the Soho original - think upmarket, pretty Cantonese dishes, served in a glam restaurant that’s excellent for pre-gaming before hitting some cocktail bars in Shoreditch. For the food, it’s one of the best places in London for evening dim sum (which is traditionally only served in the morning), and along with posh dumplings like an excellent venison puff, the classics are also very good as well. Larger dishes like a Malaysian-style char kway teow or beef ho fun are nicely cooked, and very satisfying. Similarly to the Soho location, service can very much be hit and miss, but when Yauatcha’s on its game, it’s incredible.

Stem And Glory in the City is an all-day vegan spot serving everything from kimchi pancakes to a meat-free take on the BLT.
Sub Cult sells gourmet subs to hungry City folk at breakfast and lunch. There’s usually a line, but the staff are jolly and the food’s worth the wait.
Grabthai is a takeaway cafe in the City that does tasty salads, noodles, and a Thai-style congee that’s the best thing you can eat on a cold morning.
