The Southwark Tavern is a comfy pub near Borough Market and a few metres from London Bridge tube, with loads of room to sit and plenty of space to stand outside if it’s warm. They have tasty burgers on Wednesdays, and perfectly good gastropub dishes in the dining room downstairs.

Hutong is the Shard’s ultra-swish Chinese restaurant, and if we were going to throw down on a pricey dinner with a view, this would be on our list.
