This old school Chinese restaurant off Brick Lane can be a bit of welcome respite from some of the trendier spots in the surrounding area. This is a white tablecloths, big menus with pictures in affair. Their hot pots are excellent, and the twice cooked pork in chilli oil with buns is one of the tastiest (and biggest) things you can get for under a tenner in London. This is a great spot for a catch up with mates, a last minute dinner, or anything really.

Burro e Salvia, in Shoreditch is a small Italian restaurant that makes excellent daily fresh made pasta and updates their pasta menu monthly.
Beigel Bake on Brick Lane is a classic East London establishment with excellent bagels to take away, and a great salt beef bagel.

Jen Cafe is the easiest dumpling fix in Chinatown. This Chinese cafe is basic i, so you really just want to hit it for a quick snack before moving on.
There are lots of restaurants in Chinatown to visit if you just want a plate of roast meat and rice, or some noodles, but TPT is our favourite.
