Sometimes you just want a proper pizza. Not some jazzed up, caviar encrusted, crust of supreme truffle oil pizza, but a cheesy, meaty, get-some-bloody-sauce-on-your-chin-lad, capital P, Pizza. That’s what Santa Maria in Fitzrovia do. It’s a clean and bright restaurant, which gets just the perfect amount of busy, and although the menu is almost entirely pizza (all rich tomato sauce and thin crispy base) you won’t be disappointed if you order some meatballs on the side.
