Elystan Street is a fine dining place that thinks it’s casual, like your friend who turns up to a lads' night in a blazer and 200 quid jeans. It definitely gets additional points for being a lot more relaxed than similarly upscale places in the area. We’d even go as far to say that it gets lively in the evenings. It’s perfect, then, for taking your parents to, with the added bonus that you can rock up in jeans and a t-shirt.
The French and Italian-influenced food is very good, but at 30-odd quid for a main, it’s a very serious proposition cost-wise that puts it in the ballpark of some real special occasion places – your best bet is the set lunch, which will give you a couple of courses for the same price.
