We’re officially over halfway through July. And we hope you’ve been eating well, having fun, and counting down the days until the new Survivor season. For this week’s plans, you’re in the right place - there’s lots going down, including new restaurant openings, reopenings, and other special events.
The Authentic Tamale Guy
The Loyalist is now offering a “Burger Blowout” private dining experience for 10-14 people. It’s a family-style dinner that includes snacks, burgers, cookies, punch bowls, and more. In other words, similar to a birthday party you’d have as a kid, but with more booze. The whole thing lasts about two hours and costs $45 per person. Make a reservation here
Chikatana has just started serving weekend brunch. You can get dishes like churro French toast, sopes benidictos, and cocktails like spiked horchata and café de olla. They also have one of our favorite new patios in the city.
If you appreciate a leisurely weekend Happy Hour, then you should know that Lottie’s pub is having one on Saturday the 24th. It goes from 12pm-4pm, and has $6 cocktails (like margaritas and dulce vido sodas) and $3 tacos. They accept walk-ins, but you can also make a reservation by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Monday, neighborhood bar Spilt Milk in Logan Square is hosting Kimski for family meal. It starts at 5pm, costs $20, and is cash only. It’s first come first served, and they don’t accept reservations.
The Financial District
As part of the city’s plan to help downtown bounce back from the pandemic, you can eat outside and listen to live music in front of the Board Of Trade building. This is only happening on Tuesdays from now until the end of August, and goes from 11am - 2pm. The street closure is between Adams and Jackson, and you can get stuff from Revivial Food Hall, Big Shoulders Coffee, and more.
