The UT students who have clearly just rolled out of bed and stumbled over to Vaquero Taquero’s brick-and mortar have no idea how good they have it. The al pastor tacos on handmade corn tortillas and the quesadillas are what put this place on the map. But it’s the very well-executed breakfast tacos - especially the bacon, egg, and cheese (with the cheese crisped up on the griddle first) - that make us consider going back to school.

The Whole Foods flagship store is still one of the most dependable places to pick up lunch in the entire city.
At Tejas Birria in Buda, they’re serving birria and quesabirria tacos, and they’ve also got birria ramen, birria kimbab, and birria grilled cheese.
Javelina is a bar and Tex- Mex spot on Rainey Street that serves food until 1:30am and has a big patio great for day drinking.
