Housed inside (you guessed it) a converted laundromat, Launderette is probably the most attractive restaurant on the East Side. The sleek, beautifully-designed spot looks nothing like its residential surroundings and grungier neighbors, but such is the case with so much in Austin these days. Fortunately, Launderette isn’t just trying to get by on looks - the food here is actually good.

The menu is somewhere in between American and Mediterranean (with influences from all over the world) small plates. The way you do Launderette right is to share everything - and do not, under any circumstances, skip dessert. This is about as ideal of a spot as you’ll find for girls night or a next-level brunch, but don’t let the low-key-ness of its location fool you - they don’t take reservations, and you won’t get seated immediately. Good thing you live in a place where it’s usually warm, because there’s a great patio and there are excellent cocktails to occupy you while you wait.
