Austin restaurants just can’t seem to figure out how to make at least seemingly authentic and reliable Italian food. And while Juliet tends to be yet another example of these issues, we don’t write it off completely. The food itself can be sometimes only okay, but in terms of atmosphere, though, Juliet nails it. The outdoor space has a wraparound bar with lots of seating and standing room, plus a tented dining area that vaguely looks like the set of Vanderpump Rules (which is actually meant as a compliment, in this scenario). The inside has a South Congress Hotel-like vibe, with multiple areas for drinking, lounging, and eating in small groups or large. The drink list is great too, and there’s a solid set of happy hour deals. So, unfortunately, like many Italian places in Austin, we recommend you check out Juliet for the vibe and the booze more than the bites.
