Restaurants and bars in Austin have been able to sell alcohol for takeout and delivery (including cocktail kits) for a little while now, but that did not include pre-mixed cocktails. In late June, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) announced a waiver that allowed restaurants and bars with a mixed beverage permit to sell cocktails for takeout and delivery. There are all sorts of rules and regulations that the TABC has laid out, including having to put cocktails in a bag that’s then zip-tied shut.

Cocktail orders also have to come with food - and some spots have gotten creative with it, like Sway’s $0.25 order of sticky rice, or The Tigress with a grilled cheese sandwich on Easy Tiger bread. And there are all sorts of new options, from canned cocktails and Capri-Sun-like pouches that come with straws to Ball jars and neatly vacuum-sealed cocktails with all the garnishes separated out. Nothing beats the sheer convenience of having cocktails delivered to your house, ready to drink. Here are 31 places where you can do just that.

Little Brother

$$$$ 89 Rainey St

Little Brother is a cafe/bar on Rainey Street that’s currently doing takeout and delivery. They’ve got beer, wine, and canned cocktails, including a frozen pina colada, an espresso martini, and a ToGroni (a negroni to-go). Conveniently, you can also tack on food from Bummer Burrito, the best burrito spot on the street. We’d recommend the Popperito burrito (because it has jalapeno poppers in it).

Fresa's South First

Mexican  in  Bouldin
$$$$ 1703 South First

The South First Street location of Fresa’s has beer, wine, and margaritas to-go. Varieties include ancho chile, frozen avocado, and prickly pear. They come in either 8 ounce (one margarita) or 32 ounce sizes (four margaritas). The North Lamar drive-thru location doesn’t sell cocktails, but they do have margarita mix (just add tequila).

Nickel City

$$$$ 1133 E 11th St

The popular East 11th bar Nickel City is currently open for indoor seating in limited capacity, but takeout drinks are still available, so you can get their frozen Irish coffee whenever the craving hits. JapaneseRaw BarSushi  in  North Loop
$$$$ 5301 Airport Blvd

The North Loop Japanese restaurant Kome is open for takeout, including ramen from the recently-closed sister restaurant Daruma. On the drinks front, they’ve got beer, wine, sake, and a bottled Matcha Maker, their cocktail with matcha and Mars Iwai whisky.

Lefty’s is almost entirely outdoors, making it a nice spot if you want to pop in for a quick drink or snack. They’re also doing takeout cocktails, like frozen Dr. Peppers and caipirinhas, in addition to beer and wine.
